Camping trip!!

This year we decided to go camping, as the girls wanted to spend the night in a tent.

We found a good camp site in the mountains (to avoid the heat and the mosquitoes!) but still only a short drive to the beach. It was fine, until it started raining!! It was the first rain for weeks! Luckily though it was just while we were sleeping, and the sun shone in in the morning and dried up our gear.

It’s nice to get in the sea on a hot summers day!!

Anyway……glad to be back home to running water and air conditioning!!!

In full bloom!

This year the sunflowers in the car park at Anytime English School are looking great! It’s been so hot though – haven’t had any rain for weeks, and it gets up into the mid thirties everyday…..

The oak tree I grew with an acorn I brought back from my fathers farm in the UK seems to be coping with the heat so far. It even has some acorns of its own this year!

I was thinking that I should take some of these acorns with me to the UK the next time I go. The wood I got the acorn from to grow this tree has since been cut down. I could keep the strain alive by planting acorns from this tree in the UK. Talk about well travelled oak trees!!

Bird table!!

I built a bird table in the garden a while ago, and we get lots of birds coming to it every time we put some bread out. It’s really nice to see them. They seem to work in teams, with one bird on look out while two birds feed. Anyway, here are some pictures…..

Long time no blog!!

Hi!!

Sorry I haven’t posted anything here for so long!! Not much to report really…..

But I did bump into Chibatman recently! I was out with some friends, and there he was!! For those of you who haven’t heard of him, he is a real life superhero who patrols Chiba keeping the streets safe.

Anyway, I will make sure I update the blog more often from now on!

Kind regards,

Eddie

Another day we went to a show jumping competition, which we all really enjoyed…..

My older brother and younger sister (and her husband and two children) came too…..

Who is the really handsome guy in the middle??

We really enjoyed the Manchester Museum – well worth a visit!!

The girls were really happy that One Direction were at the airport to see them off!!

English Paramedic Demo at the JEF Stadium

Hi there!!

Today I helped with a demo at the Fukuda Denshi Arena in Chiba. The paramedic students in Japan are doing their best to learn more English ready for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, so we did a demo of a Japanese paramedic crew helping someone at the Olympics in English. The scenario was my wife (played by a medical dummy!) had severe heat stroke, passed out, then went into cardiac arrest. We did the demo on a stage in the arena, and it was filmed for the local news (should be on tonight!!).

I arrived at 7 am to run through the demo with the team. It felt great to be let loose in an empty stadium!!

So this is what a footballer sees as he goes out onto the pitch!!!

The team came from all over Japan for the demo today. So, most of us were meeting for the first time. But the demo went well, and I was really impressed with how professional they are.

Then some of the football players came out with the mascot which was great!!

Anyway, thats all for now!!

Tokyo Olympics Preparation!!

Sorry for not posting anything for so long!!
I was asked to help a medical University in Chiba to help teach the trainee paramedics how to help someone in English in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Here are some pics…..

First, I had to pretend to be a visitor from overseas watching the Olympics, and start having trouble breathing. Then, an Olympic official called an ambulance and they came in and asked me some questions in English. They set up an AED and Cardiogram, and then I had to pass out and fall off the chair and they got to work on me!! I was really impressed with how professional the paramedics were.

We were really relieved everything went well!! We have been asked to do another demo in December in front of 2,000 people!! I will post some photos of it here!!

It was a great experience for Hana and Maki as well. We had a lot of time together as a family, and they coped amazing well with the long flights.

Anyway, better crack on!!

The New Premises!!

Photo for HP

We are so happy to have finally moved the English School out of our house. Here are some of the photos from before and after the renovation. It took us about 2 months, and a lot of hard work!!

Koji 2

Koji 1

The first job was for Koji to cut off the branches from the massive tree on the neighbours land. It was leaning on the roof of our building, and was a big job. Koji is fearless, and didn’t think twice about climbing straight up the tree and getting busy with his chainsaw………

School outside 1

Side view outside

I painted the outside myself, and it was harder work than I imagined it would be. But I am pleased with how it turned out!!

From the road side

At the end

Rob Applin from Dovetail did an outstanding job of remodelling the whole interior of the building, and I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone in Japan who is looking for an independent builder who can do everything themselves.

Anyway, best get started on fixing up our house now!!
Kind regards,
Eddie
